Welcome to the official website of the 2017 Computer Applications and Quantitative Methods in Archaeology (CAA) international conference. The conference will be held between March 14th and 16th, 2017 at Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA, USA.
The 45th CAA conference will bring together scholars from across the globe to share their cutting edge research from a diverse range of fields in a focused, but informal, setting. One thing that the CAA prides itself on is a strong sense of community, and we hope to continue to grow that community by welcoming new participants this year. This is only the 3rd time the conference has been held in the United States, and we are excited to have old and new members join us in Atlanta this coming spring.
For any questions about the conference, please direct emails to: email@example.com.
The OJS portal is now up and running. Please follow the CAA2017_Upload_Instructions to get access to OJS and upload your publication. Your username and password for OJS should be the same as the one you use for OCS. Thanks for your patience. We will also extend the deadline to upload papers till 11:59 PM (EDT) – Atlanta time – on August 7th. If you have extenuating circumstances due to fieldwork please contact us as soon as possible at CAA2017@caaconference.org.
Please note that the deadline to submit a paper to the proceedings has been postponed to the 1st of August. Please visit the Proceedings page for more details.

We are having a few issues with the registration portal and due to that we are extending early-bird registration until 11:59 PM(EST – Atlanta time) on the 22nd of February.
Please go to the Registration page to access the registration information.
Please visit – https://caa2017a.sched.com – for a preliminary program of the sessions. We hope to not have to make any changes, but if we do, those changes will be reflected on the Sched site.
I have been promised that the conference registration portal will be up and running next week (Feb. 6th), so please check back. I am very sorry about this delay. The details and pricing of registration are posted on the registration page. We have some hotel and travel information posted, so please begin to make your travel plans. Remember there are workshops on Monday, and the conference will run from Tuesday through Thursday, with post-conference tours beginning on Friday.
The call for papers and posters is OPEN and will remain open until 11:59 PM EDT the 28th of October (Friday). You will find an alphabetical list of the proposed sessions (called “Tracks” in OCS) under the Program tab of this website. When you click on a session and you will be taken to the abstract for the session. If you would like to read all of the abstracts, you can find them at the bottom of the page or you can download a PDF of the abstracts. If you do not find a session that fits your proposed paper, please use the General Papers session. If you are proposing a poster, please select the General Poster session. Given the various formats of the proposed sessions, there will not be a standard length of a proposed paper. You will be working on that directly with the session organizer (track director). Please indicate the corresponding author if there is more than one author. The CAA allows an individual to be the corresponding author on only one paper, and the corresponding author must be a member of CAA International before the conference begins. The corresponding author does not necessarily have to be the first author. You can serve as non-corresponding author on multiple papers and can serve in other capacities (i.e., session organizer, roundtable discussant, lighting/flash talk presenter, poster presenter, etc…). It is expected, except in special circumstances, that the corresponding author be the person who presents the paper at the conference.
Please go to the OCS website to log-in and submit your paper/poster abstract. The link above should take you directly to the submission page. You can also click on the Submissions/Registration tab above. You will need to log-in, go to User Home, click on CAA 2017 and then look for the Submission link at the bottom of the page under the Conference Information header. You can select your session from the Track drop-down menu.
Each abstract should be no more 250 words including session title, author names, affiliations, and email addresses and 3 – 5 keywords. Remember, the official language of the conference is English and all submissions should be in English. If English is not your first language, it is strongly suggested that you have a fluent English speaker review your abstract before submission.
Submit your paper/poster abstract here
If you are interested in running a workshop on the Monday (March 13th) before the conference starts, please email email@example.com. In your email, please provide a title of the workshop, a short (250 word or less) abstract about the workshop and what attendees will learn by attending. Please also include a list of any equipment you might need (i.e., LCD projector, desktop computers for everyone, etc…) to successfully run your workshop. Please submit your abstract by the 14th of October.
